Dr Sitoh Yih Yiow is a consultant geriatrician who graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1991. He obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom in 1996 and was awarded a Higher Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) fellowship by the Ministry of Health, Singapore in 2000, during which he had the privilege of working as a clinical fellow with the Institute of Bone and Joint Research of the University of Sydney, and the Bernard Curran Rehabilitation Unit of the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Health Services of Northern Sydney. He went on to complete his Specialist Certification in Geriatric Medicine by the Joint Committee on Specialist Training & the Specialist Accreditation Board, Ministry of Health, Singapore in 2001. He has extensive experience in the assessment and management of geriatric syndromes and has a special interest in geriatric rehabilitation, osteoporosis and other rheumatological conditions in older persons, and dementia.
Dr Sitoh has been actively involved in the teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate students in different aspects of Geriatric Medicine and is an adjunct assistant professor with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He has an active interest in clinical research into different areas of health concerns affecting older persons and has published widely in local and international journals, concerning a range of topics that include dementia, swallowing problems, falls and osteoporosis as well as concerns pertaining to health services. He is also a member of eMenders: Specialist Medical Care, a group of more than 50 leading specialists covering over 25 speciality areas of medicine and dentistry in Singapore.
Dr Sitoh is an active member of the Society for Geriatric Medicine, Singapore, the Australian Society for Geriatric Medicine, the American Academy of Neurology and the American Geriatric Society. He presents regularly at local and international scientific meetings organized by these professional bodies.
